A Danish native, Irene Blum is a researcher at the Department of Management, Society and Communication at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. Her research interests are in the field of digital media, sustainability and social movements. Specially, she considers how the new media landscape is changing the game for activists and other persons with a social justice agenda by shifting power to their favour. Irene has also been involved in projects that look into and attempt to challenge occurrences of racism in today’s society and in sport specifically, including the Erasmus+ funded project BRISWA.

She holds degrees from Copenhagen Business School in Denmark and Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Netherlands. She obtained her degree from the latter in the program Media Culture and Society in 2017
