About LeaderBoard
Our ground-breaking leadership programme and campaign aims to not only increase demographic diversity on Boards and in executive leadership positions, but also shift existing belief systems away from ‘diversity as tokenism’ to ‘diversity as essential’ for the future success of our sector
LeaderBoard Scotland
Sporting Equals has partnered with sportscotland to make Boards more ethnically diverse in Scotland.
This is a three day training programme to make you Board ready.
Recruitment is now open for our 2025 cohort, with the first two days taking place on 21st and 22nd January 2025 at The National Centre, Inverclyde. The third date is to be confirmed.
This programme is open to anyone who is ethnically diverse and wants to make a difference on a national or regional board.
There is no ideal candidate.
We want to see people who have experience on a committee, people who have been elite athletes, people who live and breathe grass roots sport, people with a broad professional background and people who are relatively new to sport.
The important thing is that the candidates have a passion for race equality and sport.

LeaderBoard England
LeaderBoard England empowers ethnically diverse people to increase their leadership and employability prospects.
Over a small space of time the cohort are trained in the skills and knowledge to influence change.
2024/25 Dates are as follows:
Day 1: 30th October
Day 2: 31st October
Day 3: 29th January

Over the space of three days, split across four months, LeaderBoard takes place at the University of Leicester. A cohort of future leaders are selected based on their past experience and future potential to influence sport & physical activity on a national scale. The expectation is that upon completion of LeaderBoard the candidates can progress to Board level roles within six months.
The syllabus covers a range of topics and skills so that upon completion the candidates are Board ready.
Day One is typically spent in lectures. In the evening a key note speech is delivered at a networking dinner attended by National Governing Bodies and sector partners. Past speakers include Olympic Gold Medalist Christine Ohuruogu MBE and race equality campaigner Azeem Rafiq amongst others.
Day Two is more seminar based learning about leadership.
Day Three is delivered a few months later, allowing time for skill development. It then focusses on how to find roles and secure them.
"Leaderboard Academy provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with many like-minded people with the goal of having true representation in governance within the sports sector in the UK. The sessions were inspirational and provided me with the encouragement I needed to go for my first board role"

Zwift Youth LeaderBoard
Zwift Youth LeaderBoard was a Sporting Equals project run in 2021 and 2022 to empower young people aged 18 -25 from ethnically diverse communities to increase their leadership and employability prospects.

“Being a member of the Sporting Equals Youth LeaderBoard has been a great experience for young people like myself aspiring to work within sport and sport media. Coming from an ethnically diverse community myself, it has been a privilege to be given a platform to help contribute to promoting positive social change, learning key skills to excel in the industry along the way, as well as hearing from industry leaders on how large organisations within sport are helping to promote ethnic diversity at all levels."
