Peloton

Sporting Equals has been partnered with Peloton for three years fostering a more diverse and inclusive society within the sport.

Sporting Equals X Peloton

In the first year of the partnership, we ran the BACK2ACTIVE programme partnering with community organisations in London to improve the knowledge, behaviour, and attitudes of members towards living a healthier and active lifestyle.

The organisations in the BACK2ACTIVE programme encompassed a wide variety of sports and helped to challenge the stereotypes often faced by those from ethnically diverse communities whilst celebrating culture, religion, and community.

Organisations within the BACK2ACTIVE project included; I:V DANCE, Black Girls Do Run – UK, Hoopsb4work, BollyCo London, Step up 2 Fitness, Pulse Social, Indian Gymkhana, KO Boxing, Black Unity Riders, JSRA Slough, JMIC, Sikhs in the City and London All-Stars.
In the second year of the partnership Sporting Equals ran their international womens day event in partnership with Peloton from Peloton Studios London. Comprising of a phenomenal live treadmill class with Susie Chan.

This class was attended by a number of our associate members including those from the BACK2ACTIVE programme; Black Girls Do Run, Bollywood Co, and SADAH. Following on from the class Sporting Equals hosted a Q&A looking at how sport and physical activity can better embrace equity.

This was presented by one of Peloton’s leading instructors, Hannah Frankson. Alongside Hannah was Nileeka Bose (Founder of BollyCo Dance Company) and Vanessa Wallace (Paralympian and Sporting Equals Trustee).

At the start of the third year of the partnership, Peloton hosted a Black History Month class with Sporting Equals. In addition to this they sponsored the Sportswoman of the Year category for the 2023 Sporting Equals Awards won by Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
