Paralympic Glory!

Yesterday marked the end of the 2024 Paralympics! It has been an incredible few weeks of sport with some truly inspiring athletes taking part. We would like to showcase two remarkable individuals: Rachel Choong (Para Badminton), a Sporting Equals Ambassador and Kadeena Cox OBE (Para Cycling), a Sporting Equals SMAP member.

Kadeena has previously won at the Sporting Equals Awards, being crowned Sportswoman of the Year in 2017 and receiving the UK Sport Inspirational Performance Award in 2018. She has been a key member of Paralympics GB for the last eight years, taking home medals in both para-athletics as a sprinter and para-cycling. This year’s Paralympics presented challenges for Kadeena, including an initial setback when she crashed in the final of her C4-5 500m race. However, she did not let this deter her; she bounced back stronger for the mixed team sprint, winning the gold medal alongside her teammates Jaco Van Gass and Jody Cunningham.

Rachel is also a previous award winner, having received the UK Sport Inspirational Performance Award in 2016. This year, Rachel made her Paralympic debut, becoming the first British woman to compete in para-badminton. Although she did not win a medal on this occasion, it was an incredible milestone for Rachel.

We are proud of both Kadeena OBE and Rachel for their great achievements this summer and look forward to working more closely with them in the future.
